Test Equipments for Fuse and fuse-links as per IEC 60269 & others

We design and manufacture test equipments and automation solutions for testing and production of Fuses and Fuse-links as per IEC 60269 & other standards.
Some of our recent solutions are listed here. These facilitate testing of fuses and fuse links as per IEC 60269-1 and others. Please write to us for more details.

PC based Fuse Test Equipment for testing as per IEC 60269-1

This test equipment is designed to conduct quality (type) testing of Fuses and fuse-links. The entire test sequence is programmed and is controlled by customisable Testware running on PC. The test equipment is available with constant high current sources in various rating, up to 4000A continuous & 40000A short-time.
The accompanying PC based Testware is intuitive, has secured database and exports reports easily for statistical analysis such as pareto analysis, bell-curve etc.

MAIN FEATURES AT A GLANCE:
The tests performed are:
  1. Temperature rise & power dissipation test
  2. Non-fusing & Fusing test
  3. Verification of rated current test
  4. Overload test
  5. Verification of Time Current Characteristics and Gates
The system comprises of:
  1. Constant Current Source: The source can supply either 0-4000A continuously or 0-40000A for 2 seconds. The voltage range is 2-20V. Output is automatically set based on the parameters such as type of fuse and test selected by the user in PC based software. Optionally, user can set the desired output current.
  2. Programmable Timer & Control Unit: This unit controls the test and timing. It also helps to measure timing wherever applicable.
  3. Digital Temperature Indicator: For measurement of  temperature.
  4. Transient Recording Meter: This is used to measure the time of short duration pulses.
  5. Testware: PC based software for Test & Reporting with secured database and intuitive graphical displays.

Automated Fuse Test Equipment as per Railways Standard specification for non deteriorating type of low voltage electrical fuses for railway signalling (IRS:S-78-97)

The test equipment generally is supplied with three test stations. Each station will be suitable to carryout following Tests for fuse of rating 1A, 2A, 4A, 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A.

The tests performed are:
  1. Rated Current Test: The fuse shall be subjected to a pulse (cycles) for 100 Hours. Each pulse (Cycle) shall consist of an ON Time period of 1 hour & OFF Time period of 6 minutes. The Test Current shall be equal to 1.05 times rated current.
  2. Limits of Time-Current Characteristic Test
  3. Non-Fusing Test: The fuse shall be subjected to 1.25 times rated current for 1 Hour. The fuse should not blow.
  4. Fusing Test: The fuse shall be subjected to 1.6 times rated current. Fuse should blow off within 1 hour. Also, the fuse is subjected to 3.6 times rated current. The fuse should blow within 5 Sec.
  5. Over Load Test: At first the current value that takes 5 Secs to blow the fuse is found out. Then 80% of this current value is taken as Test Current. The fuse is then subjected Test Current i.e. “On Time” for 5 Sec & NO Current (OFF Time) for 12 minutes. For type test fuse is subjected to 50 cycles & for Acceptance Test 20 cycles. The fuse should not blow till the end of the test.
  6. Potential Drop (Mili-volt Drop) Test: The fuse is subjected to rated current and drop across the caps is measured. The drop should be within the specified limits in the test standard.
The system comprises of:
  1. Constant Current Source: This is a variable constant current source to get current between 1A to 100 Amps. The True RMS current is kept constant within +/- 1% with the help of specially designed Servo Controller.
There will be following voltage-tapping 100A / 3 Volt; 30A / 8V; 10A / 12V; 5A / 30V. The output tapping can be selected by selecting shorting links CT ranges will be 2A, 5A, 20A, 50A, and 100A. The ranges will be selected through shorting links.
  2. Control Unit: This is micro controller based unit which enables operator to Set/read different parameter as follows-
    1. For Rated Current Test - Operator can ON Time, OFF Time and Total Time. After 100hrs. it will give alarm indicating Test Over.
    2. Limit of Time Current Characteristics – This will measure the time in minutes & second, and at the end of 1hr. it will give alarm. In case the fuse blows it will stop time & give alarm.
    3. In overload Test – It will monitor the ON, OFF time and number of cycles. Maximum number of cycles can be set with this and when the cycles are over it will give alarm. In case the fuse blows it will stop the test and give alarm.
  3. Digital Mili-volt Meter: This is AC Volt meter with 3 ranges 200mV, 2V and 20V. This is used to measure the drop across fuse link.
Three stations will be housed in one panel, which will be mounted on table. Arrangement for mounting of the fuse base will be provided on the table at the bottom.
