With user safety given top priority in recent years, several
certification agencies have made safety testing mandatory for devices and
electrical products that are sold world-wide. In most markets it is
mandatory for a product to conform to safety standards outlined by safety
and standard agencies like UL, CE, VDE, IEC, BIS and so on. At SCR
ELEKTRONIKS, we offer certain standard safety test equipment and analyzers
that cover the requirements of most of the manufacturers and test labs. Not
only do we keep upgrading our models so that the changing demands are met,
such as compatibility with other devices, software, etc. but also do we
welcome custom design enquiries to incorporate additional features on demand
which further broadens our zest to serve you in the best possible style!
With several decade long design experience in electrical, electronic,
pneumatic and PC based SCADA systems coupled with our prompt after sales
service, we feel that we are an ideal company to supply Safety Test
Equipment such as High Voltage Tester, Insulation Resistance Tester
(Megger), Earth Bond Tester, Leakage Current Tester, Glow Wire Test
Apparatus, Comparative Tracking Index Tester, Millivolt Drop Tester, Dry Arc
Tester, Impulse withstand Tester and so on.
SCR ELEKTRONIKS manufactures a complete range of safety test equipment:
This tester is built to measure the total resistance of a product’s insulation by applying a voltage of 500V – 1000V. The minimum acceptable value of resistance for a product to pass an insulation resistance test is normally 2 Mega Ohms or 200 Mega Ohms. The insulation resistance test does not substitute the high voltage test. Many standards and safety agencies have specified this as a 100% routine test for all products. This test may be additionally carried out every time after a maintenance procedure or repairing.
This test is performed by measuring the resistance between the third pin (ground) and outside metal body of the product under test. The maximum acceptable value is generally 0.5 ohms although certain standards may specify 0.1 ohms. This test is generally carried out at slightly high current say 25-60A so that the ground bond circuit positively maintains safe voltages on the chassis of the product under test even at a high current before the circuit breaker as a line protection device trips. This test is essential so that the product does not cause an electric shock resulting from some insulation failure. Many standards and safety agencies have specified this as a 100% routine test for all products.
This test is to measure the undesirable leakage current that flows through or across the surface of the insulation or the dielectric of a capacitor. This test is generally carried out at 100% or 110% of the rated input voltage of the product under test. The maximum acceptable limit of a leakage current is generally 210 micro amperes. Previously this test was mandatory as a 100% routine test for medical devices only. We recommend this as a routine test for all electrical products.
By combining two or all of the above four tests (plus performance test) in one panel, we have designed a Safety Test Panel to comply the needs of companies like Bluestar, G.E., Phillips, Bajaj Electricals, Surya Lighting, Thorn Electricals, A O Smith, Ellin and so on to test a variety of products such as a luminaire, electric geyser, domestic mixer, domestic iron, air-conditioner, refrigerator and so on. To accommodate the panel on assembly line we have included performance test in this all in one solution which can carry out all the above tests when the device under test is subjected to rated voltage. In addition to manual and automatic mode, PC based operation is possible in this panel wherein all the test parameters such as withstand voltage and leakage current (PHVT), leakage current, insulation resistance, etc. can be input from the PC software and the test can be run till the test is carried out all by itself (all tests are carried out one by one sequentially as programmed) and the results of each test are displayed on PC screen as well as the front panel. The software is customized to fit the exact requirements of the customer. The results can be recorded or sent to a remote location via email. Fixtures can be designed and provided for High Voltage testing if required. A truly all in one solution that is making inroads into the industry!
