Mechanical Test Apparatus
We design and manufacture Mechanical Test apparatus such as Ball Pressure, Cord-grip, Impact, Shock, Tumbling barrel, With-drawl pull Test Apparatus & Test Fingers.
Please write to us for more details.
The Ball Pressure Apparatus is designed to test insulations
wherein resistance of insulating material to elevated operating temperature
is determined. Insulation materials used in Electrical Appliances, Electrical
wiring accessories, luminaries, motors, connectors, etc. must confirm to
this test. The Ball Pressure Test Apparatus is a precision engineered test
instrument for use by safety and compliance testing laboratories.
The apparatus checks the deterioration in insulation, which might reduce the safety of the appliance.

Cord Grip Test Apparatus is for testing effectiveness of the retention in flexible cables.
Cord Grip Test Apparatus consist of following parts:
- Eccentric Circular plate.
- Crank or handle.
- Plate on which flexible cable is tested; One side of plate is hinged & other side is freely rested on eccentric circular plate.
- Counter to count number of pull off.
Impact Test Apparatus is used to test the Electrical Accessories / appliances for their mechanical strength.
Compliance is checked by applying blows to the sample, by means of the impact test apparatus
Features:
- Striking Element: It has a hemispherical face of radius 10 mm, made of Teflon, weighing 0.15kg.
- Steel Tube: It has external diameter – 9mm, and thickness – 0.5mm. Steel tube is pivoted at its upper end in such a way that it swings only in the vertical plane of the axis of the striking element. The design of the impact test apparatus is such that a force between 1.0N & 2.0N is applied to the face of the hammer to maintain the pendulum in horizontal position. Striking Element is rigidly fixed to the lower end of the steel tube.
- The appliance is held against a solid wall and the test apparatus is so arranged that the pivot of the pendulum is vertically above the point of impact of the hammer. The striking element is then allowed to fall from such a height of 250mm. Three such blows are applied to every part of the enclosure which is likely to be weak, including handle, levers and the like, but excluding single lamps and their covers if these do not protrude from the enclosure by more than 3mm or have a surface not exceeding 3cm (square).
Mechanical Shock Test Apparatus is designed to test MCBs, ELCBs as for resistance to mechanical shock as per IS 8828:1996 clause 9.130 or IEC 60898.
The mounting on vertical plate is such that the vertical height can be adjust up to 250mm (Normal distance 180mm). Similarly, adjustment is provided to adjust horizontal distance of vertical plate from pivoted between 150m to 250mm (normally 200mm). The spring is with 25N/mm constant. Motorized arrangement is made so that dropping height is 40mm and the speed is adjusted such that the time between two drops is good enough for test sample to come to test. Digital preset counter is provided to count the number to drops. This facilitates to set the number of drops after which the test is terminated.
The set has 3 units:
- Test Finger with spring loaded arrangement
- Flexible Test Finger
- Control Panel for Test Finger Apparatus
Tumbling Barrel Apparatus is for use in laboratories involved in testing Appliances, Electrical Accessories, Luminaries and other related Electro-technical products. It is used to perform the test specified in many standards to determine compliance with safety requirement of mechanical strength of test samples.
It consists of a wooden barrel, with a shape and dimensions as specified in the relevant standard. The barrel is rotated about its central axis by a motor such that its speed is five revolutions per minute. The test sample placed inside the barrel will undergo repeated falls from a height of 500 mm on the steel plates fitted inside the barrel. The numbers of fails are programmed with the help of the digital preset counter, which will stop the barrel rotation after the preset numbers of fails are achieved. The equipment has several safety and operational features that make it one of the most advanced equipment of its type. The apparatus is housed in a rugged enclosure affording very high mechanical rigidity and strength. The enclosure and panels are epoxy powder coated / anodized for long-term protection. Its compact size allows it to be mounted on any laboratory floor. Levelling feet provide stable installation.
Features:
- Self contained compact unit that can be floor mounted.
- Laminated wooden barrel mounted on a sturdy support frame.
- Motorized operation enables ease of use.
- Rotation Speed of five RPM, providing a fall rate of ten falls per minutes.
- Steel base plate fixed at both ends of the barrel as specified in the standards.
- Digital pre-set four digits counter with bright LED dual display, membrane keypad selection and battery back-up to memorize count value in case of power cut-off.
- Audible / Visible ‘Test’ indication.
- Transparent acrylic sliding cover allows easy loading and unloading of the test sample, and allows inspection during the test. Cover can be locked during the test.
- Two castor wheels and one adjustable foot provide mobility as well as leveling facility.
- Non-contact proximity sensor ensure reliable operation Barrel JOG Switch to bring the barrel to upright position after end of Test.
Withdrawal Pull Test Apparatus is designed to carry our ‘Withdrawal Pull Test’ on sockets as per the standard specifications.
Withdrawl Pull Test Apparatus consists of following parts:
- Motor
- Socket Plate & Socket Plate Mounting Block: On Socket Plate socket under test is mounted. Socket Plate is in turn mounted on two Mounting plates with provision for lateral position adjustment, to take care of different thickness sockets. Provision is made for adjustment along Xaxis & Yaxis, so that, ‘Test Plug Pins’ engage exactly in to the holes on the ‘Socket Under Test’. This is stationary during test.
- Test Plug with mounting arrangement
- Movement Transfer Arrangement: Consists of circular Disc with offset link, Lateral Link, connection between offset link and ‘Test Plug Moving Block'
- Push-Pull Gauge of capacity 20kg
- Micro-processor based Control Unit
